Assembly Speaker on Budget Vote

SACRAMENTO - In this week’s Democratic address, Assembly Speaker Karen Bass (D-Los Angeles) sees spending cuts and new revenues as necessary components of a budget that will help California end a cash crisis that has already impacted employment and state payments to taxpayers. She calls the compromise needed to close California’s $42 billion budget deficit a blueprint for challenges yet to come.
