Chuck's record on education, Iraq, choice, his support for President Bush, and his record on environment are going to sink him here. Why do I think this race is a ploy to raise money for something else? You can't run for Senate on a record of promoting Hemp unless you're smoking some of Hemp's illegal cousin...

I'm amused that Chuck thinks he can coipy Obama's model. Obama is a charismatic, inspiring leader. And Chuck is ....Chuck.

Plus, I'm hoping that President Obama will remember that Chuck teammed up with Floyd Brown to produce some TV spots that failed the truthiness test in North Carolina, and come out to California and campaign for Boxer.

Personally, I believe Senator Boxer to be a much more effective Senator for California, and just an all around better Democrat. I wish Feinstein would go away, but not at the hands of a republican like DeVore. Don't you all remember how we had to rein her in with the judicial appointments. She voted for both Roberts and Alito calling them "exemplary judicials". I remember those hearings and they are nothing of the sort, what with Alito approving the strip search of a 9 yr old and Roberts refusing to tackle significant legislative and Executive questions instead relying on those respective branches to determine each others limits. Thus ensuing the age of the Unitary Executive. I'd support her re-election, but only because DeVore is a joke of an assemblyman.

According to Survey USA, Barbara Boxer's approval rating is 51% approve/39% disapprove as of March 2008. Apparently, Mr. DeVore feels free to play fast and loose with the facts when it suits his ego and political ambitions (see also: Assemblyman Todd Spitzer).

I stand corrected and should've said "Republican." Either way, Devore has little chance.

Gustavo, a correction:

Garden Grove Democratic Assemblyman Ken Cory was the most recent Orange County pol to win statewide office. Ken was elected State Controller in 1974 and in a pre-term limits world won re-election twice.

His campaign theme was " The Man the Oil Companies Fear the Most" (the Controller sits on the State Lands Commission which deals with oil leases on state lands). So a catchy campaign slogan can help propel someone from the media desert of the OC to statewide office. But not always as Joe "The Man Who Cracked Enron" Dunn unfortunately discovered in his race for the office 32 years later.

I don't think Cory's record is in jeopardy due to Don Quioxte Devore's candidacy but it might be entertaining to speculate on a campaign slogan for Team Devore. How bout :

" DRILL IT......NUKE IT......PAVE IT..... DEVORE FOR CONTROLLER."

Ok, I can't help rubber-necking at a massive pile-up on the freeway, so I went to look at Chuckie's website.

Holy moly. It looks like his first order of business is to boost our economy by putting gigantic flags on public buildings. Looks at the scale of the US flag. It's bigger than the flagpole. How does that get attached to the building? Is it nuclear-powered?

DeVore winning is about as likely as a blizzard in Irvine.

He sure doesn't have a humility problem, does he?

Perhaps Gustavo meant no OC REPUBLICAN pol.
Democrat Ken Cory served as State Controller from 1975-1987.

Not only does Chuck have to face himself, he must also go against history: no Orange County pol has won statewide office since Thomas Kuchel served as senator for a couple of terms in the 1950s and 1960s. John Seymour was appointed by Pete Wilson to replace him, then lost to Feinstein.
