A Message for Sign Stealers

Do you hate seeing all those Yes on 8 and McCain/Palin signs? Me too. But before you steal or deface a campaign sign you dislike, ask yourself this:

How many times have you decided how to vote based on campaign signs?

For most people the answer is “never.” If you HAVE decided based upon a sign, the voting decision you made was almost certainly not for President or a controversial issue such as Proposition 8.  The presence or absence of a No on 8 sign or a McCain/Palin sign is NOT going to change anyone’s voting decision.

Don’t take down or deface an opponent’s campaign signs. It’s just not worth it and it won’t change anyone’s mind anyway. Instead, get even by making a campaign donation.

This is a non-sequitor, but I just realized that the former Prime Minister of Israel was a muslim.
I mean he must be, because he has a funny name: Barak.

And if you aren’t in a position to make a contribution to the candidate/cause you support there are other things you can do:
VOTE. Vote early if you can (there are sites throughout OC) and it’s not too late to request an absentee ballot.
VOLUNTEER – call up and contribute a few hours in the next few weeks to call voters, go door to door and talk to voters, assemble/distribute signs, whatever is needed. And since you’ve already voted (see above), you’ll be available to help on Election Day – the most important 13 hours of any campaign.
TELL YOUR FRIENDS. Tell them which issues are important to you and why they should vote. Take them along when you vote early or volunteer.

Some of Gary’s signs have already walked away and we just put them up Saturday afternoon. Oh well.

Hey, donate to Gary if you’re mad! ;)

It’s not worth it though, I agree. I however loved that someone on Daily Kos had a cheap rigging to set an alarm if someone tries to steal your Obama/Biden yard sign.

Well, what about just correcting signs?

Those Rohrabacher signs that say Security. Liberty. Prosperity are just crying out for a little help. Three words aren’t enough to describe the results of the Bush Rohrabacher legacty.

I’m dying to add modifiers like “Less” “Exported” and “Vanished”

    Ah, the temptation.

    Pero, Gila… :-(

What will I do now with all my bright yellow construction paper “NO” squares? The ones where the O is a happy face? And my can of spray glue? Was it just a waste of twenty bucks?
