Here, for your reading enjoyment, is an article I just read at Jack and Jill Politics written by Jack Turner. I pass it along in its entirety, unedited and without comment other than to invite you to draw your own conclusion.
Luckily, it was a ball-bearing gun (since true firearms are much harder to come by in the UK)
From the Daily Mail
A man told today how he was shot three times in a London street for wearing a Barack Obama T-shirt.
Dube Egwuatu was buying a mobile telephone top-up card in an off-licence when the gunman confronted him and glared at the top, which carries an image of the Democrat US presidential candidate underneath the legend ‘Believe’.
The man then launched into a tirade of racist slurs, shouting ‘I f***ing hate n*****s’ and urging 36-year-old Mr Egwuatu to leave the shop with him.
This was in the UK where gun violence pales in comparison to the good ole U.S. of A. Many of us have been working under the assumption that it’s irresponsible for McCain and Palin to feed this negativity out of concern for Obama’s safety.
This story reminds me that we are all less safe when terrible leaders fan the flames of fear. Everybody please be careful. We are in some extraordinarily dangerous territory.
