CA-46: Why Is “Crazy Dana” Voting Against Equal Rights?

This just in from the Debbie Cook campaign. It looks like Dana Rohrabacher is at it again putting his own crazy beliefs above the needs of over half the people in the 46th District. Take a look below at what I’m talking about.

Cook Questions Rohrabacher Vote Against Equal Pay Bill

Huntington Beach–Congressman Dana Rohrabacher voted yesterday against the Paycheck Fairness Act, a measure designed to give working women equal footing in the workplace.

“Dana Rohrabacher has voted to increase his own pay 10 times. While voting himself $90,000 in pay raises, he’s voted against equal pay for women, against access to birth control, against Head Start programs, and against health care for children,” said Debbie Cook, Democratic candidate for Congress in the 46th district. “Dana Rohrabacher’s record on women’s issues is clear: he is not working to protect the health and well-being of the women in his district.”

Rohrabacher has also been silent on a Bush adminstration proposal that would severely limit the ability of women to have access to safe and effective birth control. More than 100 members of Congress have signed a letter asking President Bush to halt the proposed legislation. ush’s proposal will eliminate California’s law requiring health plans to cover birth control.

“I urge Congressman Rohrabacher to stand up against limiting women’s access to birth control,” said Cook. “The women in his district deserve to know where he stands on this

Cook is a two-term member of the Huntington Beach City Council, currently serving as mayor. She has devoted much of her adult life and her legal career to environmental protection and energy policy. She considers reducing America’s dependence on fossil fuels an environmental and national security imperative.

The 46th Congressional District covers a two-county area bounded by Costa Mesa on the south and the Palos Verdes Peninsula on the north. Both the Cook Political Report (no relation to the candidate) and the Swing State Project have listed California’s 46th District as a race to watch. Please visit for more information.

So Rohrabacher just doesn’t like women?
