The Keep Irvine Great ‘08 ticket of Sukhee Kang for Mayor and Beth Krom and Larry Agran for City Council kicks off the 2008 campaign with an event at the Lakeview Senior Center in Irvine on Saturday, August 2 from 2-4PM.  As the event gets closer, The Liberal OC will report on another entry into the council race who will pose a huge threat to Steven Choi in November.

If you want to RSVP for the event, please email keepirvinegreat2008@cox.net  and by all means go to the website at www.keepirvinegreat2008.com.

More after the jump.

Irvine is the safest city in America — again — and Money Magazine rates it the 4th best place to live in the US.  And this is largely due to the leadership and work of our progressive council leaders over the past eight years.  Theirtrack record is impressive:

  • Defeated the County plan to build an International Airport at El Toro

  • Planning, design and construction underway for the Orange County Great Park

  • Irvine named “Safest Big City in America” for three years in a row

  • Strong fiscal foundation…increased reserves from 5.5% to 15% ($20.8 million in reserves)

  • Irvine Educational Partnership Fund established to enhance city support for local schools

  • Irvine adopts the first comprehensive municipal Greenbuilding Ordinance

  • Irvine recognized by the Green Guide as one of the “15 Greenest Cities in America”

  • Major mobility, transit and transportation improvements, including comprehensive upgrade of traffic signal synchronization

  • Irvine twice recognized as one of the “100 Best Communities in America for Young People”

  • New community parks and enhanced Open Space access

  • Emphasized the importance of Ethics in local government

  • This is a historic election in Irvine; we have the chance to elect the city’s first Korean-American mayor who has an exceptional track record as a business executive.  Our choice is pretty simple — move Irvine forward or cling to the past.

    • Delicious
