For the fourth straight year,Irvine has been named the safest big city in the U.S. The preliminary Uniform Crime Reporting statistics report for 2007 was released by the FBI today.

I wrote yesterday about the statistics for Santa Ana rom 2006. in relation to Chief Walters bid for the OC Sheriff job. Seems whlie the rate dropped about 1% in Santa Ana compared to a national drop of .4%, Santa Ana still rates as the least safe city in OC. Violent crime in Santa Ana is 33% higher than in Anaheim (57.23/10,000 vs. 43/10,000).

Bet Chief Walters wishes this report would have come out on Wednesday instead of today.

And I’ll bet that Christina Shea and Steven Choi wished the result were different. We’re in our 8th year with progressive leadership in Irvine and at the top of the charts again for four years in a row.

There must be some mistake.

Paul Walters says that despite all the murder and graffiti vandalism and auto thefts and gangs and drugs that Santa Ana is the safest city…….
