Janet’s Free Pass From The Local Dems

During last years special election to fill the First District Supervisoral seat Janet Nguyen and Trung Nguyen slugged it out in a crowded field to see who would replace Lou Correa. The campaign had a rather nasty tone to it and Janet and Trung placed the Latino community at the center of their battle.

Each campaign sent out mailers in which they viciously attacked Latino immigrants. In one of those mailers Janet opined that Vietnamese immigrants came to America “the right way”, insinuating that Latino’s somehow have not. To this day Janet has never apologized for the vile and despicable mailer. So why then is Janet being given a free pass by local Democrats in her bid for re-election?

Rather than coming to the support of the lone Democrat in the race, Hoa Van Tran, most local Dems have decided to sit this one out. I realize that we were all hoping that Joe Dunn would run against Janet and we were all eager to get on board with his campaign. But Joe chose not to run and rather than going with a “plan B” and perhaps supporting Hoa folks have chosen to support Janet by proxy.

They have put their hatred of Michael Schroeder and Van Tran ahead of their love for the Democratic Party. Rathing than seizing upon an opportunity to make in-roads into the Vietnamese community, which has been solidly Republican for close to 30 years, many have chosen to canabalize our own. Rather than holding Janet Nguyen accountable for her actions in the last campaign and for her record on the Board of Supervisors many have decided to take aim at the fellow Democrats.

I am not privy to any inside information about the situation involving Paul Lucas, Van Tran, Dina Nguyen and Michael Schroeder. If Paul was only getting involved to help the Schroeder Cabal win then I agree that this was wrong. But just because Paul did this, it does not excuse the fact that now we have Democrats essentially aiding Janet Nguyen. Why are “loyal” Democrats running to Jubal and Red County with information that could destroy the campaign of Democrat Hoa Van Tran? How is activity like that any different than Paul working with the Reeps?

If these folks felt that there was some wrongdoing on the part of Hoa’s campaign they should have reported it to the proper authorities. Running to partisan bloggers who revel in trying to take down the Democratic Party was not the proper move to make. I agree that all campaigns must follow the rules, but using a partisan blog to expose them is just flat wrong. Go to the FPPC, not Jubal.

It is sad to see local Democrats going after our own. Sometimes it looks like we can’t get out of our own way to save ourselves. The First District seat should be rightfully in the hands of a Democrat, but thanks to what looks like a “hidden agenda” we will simply hand it to the Republican’s. Worse yet, we are aiding the Republican’s in their quest.

Let me remind my fellow Democrats that Janet Nguyen’s positions are not unlike those that we on the left routinely oppose. She has voted lock, stock and barrel with the wants of those in the Lincoln Club and the GOP itself. She has been on the wrong side of most every issue that has come before her on the Board of Supervisors and just like the “Trannies” she bashes the Latino community for sport.

Janet and Dina are simply different sides to the same coin. Rather than stand up and fight both of them many Democrats have chosen to aid Janet by proxy. This is wrong. This is the same Janet Nguyen that bashed Latino immigrants, the same Janet Nguyen that supported Chriss Street, the same Janet Nguyen that voted to cut social service spending. How does this make her any diiferent from Dina Nguyen?

Shame on local Dems that attack our own instead of Janet Nguyen. Shame on local Dems that have turned a blind eye to her slurs attacking the Latino community. Shame on the local Dems giving her a free pass.

Since Chris is like ly to delete my posts on his drivel abou me I am cutting and pasting them to your post Sean.
    Paul

While I am on the subject Chris,

Can you tell me what is that state of the ERDC? I believe you are still the Chair or Co-Chair of that group. Has the ERDC increased its activism at all in the Community?

Where was the ERDC and You as an individual for that matter during Lou Correas struggle for the State Senate? Hmmm, if I remember correctly, you were pissing and moaning about how Lou Broke his promise to stay in that seat and then bemoaned the fact that Tom Umbergh will be the next at bat for that seat. But did you actually do anything or did you just piss and moan? Unlike you I was out walking precincts.

In fact during that Senate Race against Tran Surrogate Lynn Daucher, I believe you did nothing more that piss and moan about the whole thing. While I secured pledge cards for the California Young Democrats from the Operating Engineers FOR FREE. That program garnered hundreds of Votes NOT ONLY FOR Lou Correa, but I secured so MANY that half of the Cards were sent up north to help the Candidate that eventually beat Dirty Dick POMBO!

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE OF LATE?

How dare you call my integrity into question Sir.
You are a shill for Janet Nguyen. Plain and Simple. You are hurting our FELOW DEMOCRAT Hoa Van Tran by your complicity with Janet Nguyen and her undercover operative Phil Becerra.

    Sean:

There was nothing stopping you from writing about the hinkiness with the Hoa Van Tran campaign. It isn’t exactly a secret.

  4. April 23, 2008 at 12:44 pm

    Sean,

I hope that you are not implying that I am supporting a republican over a democrat. Or that I am somehow giving Janet a pass on her actions in the special election or after taking office. Just look at what I’ve written and d you will find that to not be the case.

But this contest has not been about Republican vs Democrat ever since Joe Dunn decided not to run too late for any other creible Democrat to launch a challenge. I am firmly convinced that Hoa Van Tran was put up by Van Tran and Mike Schroeder to run in the First District to pull Vietnamese votes away from Janet Nguyen. Paul Lucas was recruited by Van Tran, Dina Nguyen and Mike Schroeder, for the specific purpose of drawig white Democratic and DTS votes from Janet Nguyen.

All of this has been orchestrated by Van Tran and Mike Schroeder to continue their feud with Janet Nguyen. A vote for Hoa Van Tran is a vote to force a runoff between Janet Nguyen and Dina Nguyen. You said that Janet and Dina are two sides of the same coin. You are only partially right.

Janet Nguyen and Dina Nguyen are two sides of a three sided coin, Hoa Van Tran being the third side.

Using the simple logic you have set forth, you support Van Tran and Mike Schroeder. Their hate filed rhetoric against Latinos by proxy of Trung Nguyen, far exceeded those of Janet.

  5. April 23, 2008 at 12:51 pm

    Chris,

Who are you supporting in the First District race?

Hoa is a registered Democrat and I believe that he has been since he initially registered to vote. I am supporting Hoa because in speaking to him I found somebody that supports working class values and who won’t bash Latino immigrants simply to get votes.

These claims that he is a puppet of Van Tran are unproven.

    Jubal,

There was nothing stopping you from writing about the corrupt and criminal activity of Mike Carona and yet none of it ever made its way to the pages of Red County.

It wasn’t exactly a secret either.

    Paul,
For the record, I walked precincts for Lou Correa in the 2006 General Election.

I would not delete your comments Paul. But for the record, if I wanted to, posting on Sean’s posts wouldn’t help you.

You are the MORON who crawled into bed with Dina, Van, and, MIke. That was your mistake and that is the issue.

“Using the simple logic you have set forth, you support Van Tran and Mike Schroeder. Their hate filed rhetoric against Latinos by proxy of Trung Nguyen, far exceeded those of Janet.”

I am supporting the Democrat in the race who has publicly stated that he supports amnesty and has made it clear that he wants to build bridges between all communities, even the Vietnamese and Latino communities.

This in no way alligns me with Van, Dina, Mike or the racist rhetoric. Is Janet’s racist rhetoric less despicable? I know Pedroza will never condemn her but surely you will.

Do you support Janet in this race Chris?

Chris. I worked on Lou and Loretta’s campaign in 06. I never saw you in either office or out of the unions…

You have been very clear in your dislike for Lou. Why would you walk for someone you do not like?

    Everyone-

I mentioned this in Chris’ thread, but I’d also like to mention it here. PLEASE do not violate the terms of use for TheLiberalOC.com. Most of you here have actually been good, but a few on a related thread have been causing heartburn for all of us site admins by posting personal attacks and outing other commenters. I just want to remind you all that those types of negative attacks won’t be permitted on this blog.

Now please, go ahead and discuss what’s going on in the First District. I certainly don’t want to censor anyone. It’s just that I also don’t want our site brought down by trollish behavior.

    Sean,

I ask that you view the video footage from the Young Democrats meeting in which I asked him where he stood on a woman’s right to choose. He refused to even answer the question and completely went around it. Later on I was told he was not aware of the issue “a woman’s right to choose” and therefore misunderstood the question. Either A) he is a liar, B) He has been living under a rock for 30 years or C) He is anti-choice like the Van Tran cabal.

It is in OUR party platform that DEMOCRATS are PRO-CHOICE. The issue of a woman’s right to choose is one of the most controversial issues in modern times, EVERYONE HAS HEARD OF THIS ISSUE! In fact an Olympic Games has been bombed over this issue. I think a college educated man like Hoa Van Tran would know about this issue.

I know you will come back and claim that is not an issue he deals with on the BOS, but he has been claiming we should support him BECAUSE he is a DEMOCRAT and BECAUSE he believes in DEMOCRATIC VALUES like us. Yet if he is anti-choice, he is NOT a DEMOCRAT in my eyes. Stop your cheerleading Sean and ask the tough questions.

  13. April 23, 2008 at 4:43 pm

    Claudio,

I have spoken to Hoa and he is pro-choice. I believe he personally opposes abortion, but he believes in the woman’s right to choose.

Perhaps you should ask your friends at the party why they are supporting Janet via proxy. Ask what type of deal was cut with Janet.

Don’t tell me you support Janet too?

Sean, if Hoa couldn’t answer that particular question to Claudio, knowing his work history, then there is no reason to trust Hoa. Your association with Hoa just continues to soil your reputation.

Sal and Claudia aren’t happy with you. Ann Banks is coming.

    April 23, 2008 at 9:24 pm

    Paul,

You still haven’t come clean on your republican connections, please do so to save your democratic political career. Any opponent will take these musings and have a field day. Hope your not planning on pullin a “Rice”.

As for Lou’s campaigns anybody who knows, understands that the party has never really supported him until after he wins. Everybody jumped on Loretta’s bandwagon only after she unseated Dornan so thats no real test of democratic dedication.

Think it was Claudio who years ago posted about OC dems perchant for supporting national causes and foregoing local elections where their help would really be an impact. So calling out Chris or Sean is a “red herring” (to us Matt’s phrase). Just tell the truth and rise above the crap your currently wallowing in.

  17. April 23, 2008 at 9:36 pm

    Li Van Nguyen,

Is that the name you have chosen to use for this post? I see that you have used several others pseudonyms in an attempt to make it look like there is a whole group of folks that have taken your same position. Say hello to 17th Street Block Party, District 1 Viet and Demlady746 for me.

Perhaps it isn’t a coincidence that all of you have taken on the same position and line of attack considering you are all blogging from the same IP address. This fabricated effort to make it look like their is widespread opposition to certain positions taken is quite pathetic. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that it is you posting slanderous things on the OJ using my name.

The only question I have is which “Janny” are you? Did Janet and her minions put you up to this or did you do it out of loyalty to her?

I am a regular reader but seldom poster on this and all of the other OC political blogs. For the record I walked precints along side Chris Prevatt MANY times for Lou. OCEA endorsed and supported Lou in almost every race as far back as I can remember and Chris has always done his part for all of OCEAs endorsed candidates.

  19. Hahaha, such lies
    April 23, 2008 at 10:10 pm

Sean, it baffles anyone’s mind that you are so paranoid about what people say about you that you’d actually take the time and look up someone’s IP address.

It’s like Hilary said, “if you can’t stand the fire get out of the kitchen.”

It’s that kind of mentality that will soon be your political demise in Santa Ana. The fact that you actually called around asking people about Ann Banks shows only what kind of fool you really are.

One day, if not next week, someone is going to approach you with a brown paper bag and ask you to take it for a project. I can guarantee you will… and just like all the criminals you’ve backed for local political office before, you’ll see what the inside of a cell looks like too. What goes around comes around, my friend.

Karma is always fun, isn’t it?

  20. April 23, 2008 at 10:39 pm

    Hahaha,

Looks like the little “Janny” is getting upset. Karma is fun. It looks like it is coming to bite you in the ass sooner than you think little “Janny”. You’re not as clever as you think. Cowardly scumbags like you always get there’s in the end. You’ll be no exception.

For the record I believe this is the 5th name you have chosen to use in the last 2 days. Why not use “Janny” or “Janet’s Little Beeyatch”? Because you, me and anyone else that knows anything knows that is exactly what and who you are.

Sean, I would quit with the attacks on anonymous bloggers. It’s really bringing your credibility down as a Planning Commissioner and in local Democratic circles.

Vince and Carlos had talked to me the other day about your pending removal from the Planning Commission. It’s going to happen within the next few weeks.
