More on: The Rules Just Don’t Apply to Janet Nguyen

On Wednesday I posted a story about Supervisor Nguyen using Health Care Agency funds to pay for her staff. To say the least it has generated a little traffic. One of the first comments the story got was from an anonymous poster who asked…

I wonder how Art Pedroza is going to justify this move by Janet N?

If any of our readers don’t know, Art is the proprietor of the Orange Juice Blog. Art has been a long time supporter of Supervisor Nguyen. He has valiantly jumped to her defense on more than one occasion. It was a good guess that he would have something to say and in usual form, Art did not let us down.

From his post Wednesday evening on Orange Juice:

Red & Blue County Blogs pile on Janet Nguyen, again

The folks at the Red and Blue County blogs are bashing O.C. Supervisor Janet Nguyen again. Yawn. This time they are perturbed because apparently one of her staffers was funded by the O.C. Health Care Agency.

I called Supervisor Nguyen to find out what this was all about. She said that when she first took office, she had to do so in a hurry. She had only one staffer, so the County CEO, Tom Mauk, found a way to transfer some help from the Health Care Agency.

This issue is yet another non-issue that Supervisor Nguyen’s enemies on the right and the left are blathering about.

Then Art took a series of clearly disoriented turns bringing up Supervisor Norby’s personal marital problems including claiming that Norby is sleeping in his office. He then launched himself head on into a wall of unrelated nonsense with this tirade:

But that’s not all. The same pajarito chirped that Norby was allegedly found, by police officers, visibly inebriated on the steps of the old County Courthouse the other day. At least he wasn’t driving!

Norby is of course the Supervisor who has been questioning Supervisor Nguyen about her staffers. What’s that saying about the pot calling the kettle black? Or not throwing stones if you live in a glass house?

In responding to a comment to his post asking; “Art, did Janet say how she planned to address the issue?” Art wrote:

No, she did not. Since the County CEO came up with all this, maybe he will find a way to unwind it.

Art’s comment demonstrates a clear pattern that has emerged with Janet Nguyen and her supporters when she is confronted with an error or difficult question.

She didn’t know there was a rule; or she didn’t think the rule applied to her; or she did what everyone else was doing (remodeling their offices); or someone told her that it was okay.

Well it looks like Art has launched Janet’s trial balloon of an excuse this time.  The CEO did it.  The CEO found her staff to fill in until she hired her full time staff. I doubt that CEO Mauk told her that HCA was picking up the tab.

In county government every job, every cost, has an account number that it must be billed to. While the staff person was loaned to her, the cost should have been charged to the First District budget.

With Janet Nguyen one thing is certain, she believes that the rules just don’t apply; to her.

Ok Art has officially jumped the shark. Blaming this incident and leaving the fixing of it up to the County CEO is totally off the mark And then he goes and takes a shot at Supervisor Norby and some unsubstantiated problems he is having.

Art needs to realize that janet is a heel. Shes nothing but a lucky ambitious girl who got into an office simply because it was a special election. Come next election for that seat, enough animosity from her behavior over the last few months is going to come home to roost and costs her the seat. Art get over it your yellow fever obsession is done in OC politics.

I got an idea, any budget deficit in Janet’s budget should be deducted from her salary.

How is it that whenever Janet missteps, Art blames the misstep on someone else, as well as those who point out the misstep?

But the Norby portion of the post is a new low even for Art. Posting salacious, unsubstantiated personal information about someone in order to distract attention from Janet’s misstep. Sleazy. Art’s glee in posting this fairly oozes off the screen.

Given Art’s infamous “pajaritos” track-record for accuracy, I doubt any serious person will accept his rumor-mongering at face value.

And it’s quite the coincidence that Art spoke with this pajarito about Sup. Norby on the very same day he spoke with Sup. Nguyen about her misstep — which had been pointed out by Sup. Norby.

Art may think he’s hurting Norby’s reputation with this sliming, but the only reputation getting hurt is his own.

Did Janet just go NUCLEAR on Norby? By feeding Art private information about Chris Norby’s personal life, she’s declaring war with the Chairman!

Janet has gone too far when she is telling people that Norby is divorced, drunk in public, etc…

I’ve tried twice to post my above comment to Art’s post on OJ, but it never seems to get approved.

Jubal, you should write a post about this on Red County. This is a new low for Janet and Art to attack Chris Norby in this matter.

I don’t want to broadcast that sliming to a wide audience.

I am utterly disgusted by Art’s comments on this matter. It’s one thing to try and spin bad news, but it’s something completely different to start unsubstantiated rumors about someone in order to deflect attention.

Chris, keep it up (never thought I’d say this). Jubal, I too have tried to post on Orange Juice 4-5 times in the last 3 days and none of my comments have been approved. I find it hilarious that he points to Red County as an oppressive machine-driven blog while he runs his blog as a dictator.

I think the OJ mask, which was never well hidden to begin with, is really starting to melt off.

I propose the folks @ the Liberal OC think twice before taking Art’s word as gospel. Let’s forget about the past and move forward. We can agree to disagree on a lot of things but we can all agree that Art’s actions have been unforgivable this time around.

Jubal, Prevatt, Dan, all on the same side of an issue!!!!

Art Pedroza is more of a uniter than “W”!

Hold on there Tim, I wouldn’t call Art an unifier.

I would like to believe that fighting against political cronyism crosses party lines though.

Does anyone want to join me for a Young Conservatives Against janet Nguyen campaign? Im tired of this womans antics. I would rather have an ethical Democrat in that office than this little girl. So serioulsy Im looking to start a group to work against janet. Any other real conservatives want to join in this effort?

Have you been taking classes from that peyote popping Carlos Castaneda? Your own personal “Journey to Ixtelan” has finally revealed that you are truly a horse’s A@% without a compass.

You make a statement about Janet, which was fine, but then you must have had a brain fart cause you report, as if it is fact, that Norby is drinking and sleeping in his office and drunk on the old court house steps. And being the idiot savant that you are, you follow up with a “if he was…” statement, which makes it appear as if you were talking out of both sides of your rear end – something you accuse politicians of doing.

I’m all for protecting someone’s right to speak especially those who insert their feet, hands, and anything else that will fit, and brother, you got it all stuffed in there. Quite a feat I might ad.

Art, how about we post that, if it is rumored that you have been known to molest children, you should be tagged with a GPS collar. Would that be good journalism or whatever it is you are practing? Of course it would not be right and I would be the first to jump to your defense that statements like that should not be allowed. Why don’t you edit your article by removing the Norby unsubstantiated, completely false, made up out of whole cloth, rant and say, “I messed up.” No harm no foul and we can go back to loving the Art that was wacky and unpredictable.

You’re a fine one to talk. You blogged the NAMES of molestation victims. Nothing I have done will ever approach the nuclear slime level of that swift move.

At any rate, I spoke to Norby today. Go to for an update.

Matt apologized for what he did, which is much more than any of us can expect Art to ever do.

Another deflection Art? That’s two in two days. The first one didn’t work and this one won’t work either.

Arts takes a perfectly legitimate(weak perhaps, but legitimate) argument about how Janet should not be blamed for the emplyee add on and somehow comes out of it looking like a cross between a bully and an oaf for throwing out the slimeball at Norby.

Instead of apologizing for his intentional gutterball, he goes after Jubal for Matt’s unintentional albeit stupid mistake. Jubal apologized for his unintentional mistake–Art has yet to make his mea culpa for his intentional attack.

Amazing. Claudio, where art thou Claudio!!
