Monkey See, Monkey Do

Despite being warned away from the Flash Report, a post shout out on Gavin Newsom made me swing that way.

Jon Fleischman takes great delight in a photo of the Mayor biting on a TV reporters Mike; of course, Jon and Drudge think Newsome is simulating oral sex (what is it with Republicans and this obsession?).  Watch the video here and you’ll see if happens in a split second and is clearly a joke. Ha ha, it looks like Mayor Newsom is trying to play Monica Lewinsky with a TV microphone.  Bad mayor.

There are times when we have to play this game by the rules the folks on the right establish.  If Jon liked that photo, perhaps he’ll like this one.

The Republicans sure are obsessed with trying to find anything that even appears to be remotely homoerotic and run with it. The video gives no such indication of anything of that nature, yet Fleishman and Drudge Report are the first to see something of that nature. It does make one wonder what they are really thinking in that head of theirs.

Jon had another post about the proposed ordinance against spanking and made a reference to how “some in SF” might be against it. My first thought was, ‘how would he know?” Personal experience? Most of us got over this level of “humor” in junior high. But when you look at Mark Foley, Ted Haggart, Jeff Gannon, and how GPAC honored some former military person who’s really a gay porn star and escourt, just how repressed is this party?

Oh, I’m not sensitive. But tired of jokes at the expense of Democrats when its unpatriotic to criticize Republicans. I didn’t start this game, but I am playing by GOP rules. And I do find that most GOPers have a thin skin when its toss back at them.

If you’ll recall the Mike Shelton editorial cartoon with a wounded solider asking if he died, is his life wasted? And his buddy replyiung, “only if Obama wins the election.” So when McCain used the term “wasted” and Mike was able to rerun the cartoon substituting McCain’s name for Obama’s, I’m sure the right wingers were laughing their heads off.

I hardly think penning a dead soldier, and cracking a joke is funny – whomever’s name is in the cartoon bubble. Nor do I think it the same type of joke as a pic of a openly gay mayor biting a microphone or bush holding a carrot in an inappropriate place. Those pics BOTH were pics of opportunity and are BOTH funny….the cartoon was deliberate and stupid.

Jon’s got his thong in a twist with the Gov giving his CoS a raise to $225K/yr. One wonders if he would be outraged if it were a good GOP (an oxymoron) instead of Susan Kennedy.
