Art Pedroza is FREE!

Orange Juice
blogger Art Pedroza has decided to quit the Republican Party. He’s kind of been on the outs with the local GOP for a while now; independent thinking and vocalizing opinions that weren’t handed down by the machine are frowned upon by local Republicans.

I am declaring myself a Free Man. The fastest growing bloc of voters does not hue to any party. I am talking of course about DTS (Decline to State) voters. That is what I am going to do. Scott, if you are reading this, please consider it my resignation from the O.C. GOP Central Committee.

I spoke with Art briefly earlier this week about this decision and he shared with me a couple of his goals as a “free man.” I’m really interested to see if a political activist like Art can make as many waves as part of an unofficial party.

In the words of Commie Girl, “See you, Suckers.” Only I hope not to actually have to see any of you anytime soon. Don’t get me wrong – I am sure that I will back a few Republicans. Ron Garcia in Brea comes to mind. But most of you simply aren’t worth it. You don’t serve the public – you serve yourselves. ¡Adiós Republicanos!

Muchos huevos, Señor. Muchos.

Too bad for the OC GOP. Art Pedroza was one of the only Republicans who actually understood what was going on in Central County. I mean, how would your typical white-collar, blue-blood, milquetoast Newport Beach Republican understand the issues and concerns of the diverse, blue-collar, working class communities in Central OC? Art’s departure is really quite a loss for the OC GOP and whatever their plan was to “regain” Central County. I wonder if they’ll ever realize that.

And how many registered Dem’s are unhappy? Both parties have problems and both parties are going to figure out that just because someone is registered as a Dem or Rep doesn’t mean they buy into the total party line. And a lot of registered Rep/Dem’s don’t always vote that way.

IMO, Pedroza did the right thing. Now, people can blast him if they don’t agree with what he has to say, but they can’t accuse him of sabotaging his own party or going after the Dem’s because he’s a Rep.

Note to Andrew- Don’t worry. There are plenty of Rep’s who understand the Central Orange County working class. Don’t confuse that “class” with the pro illegal immigration, government should support everyone, Santa Ana should only have Hispanic Council members and staff folks. They’re Dem’s and will always be Dem’s.
